Guy Ilagan, PHD ("Guy") is Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Supervisor (LPCS) and National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC). Presently, Guy teaches graduate students in The Citadel’s Counselor Education Programs, where he is tenured at the rank of full professor. At Wild Oak Wellness, Guy conducts clinical supervision and serves as the groundskeeper.
My Story
Guy served as a board member and president for the South Carolina Counseling Association and for several years, traveled to Belize to provide trainings to Belizean counselors on suicide assessment and trauma-informed counseling strategies. Guy has conducted and published studies on topics such as counselor effectiveness, counselor self-efficacy, suicide intervention, and the mental health effects of wilderness backpacking. He has presented his research and provided keynote addresses at international, regional, and state conferences. Guy enjoys backpacking, canoeing, stand-up paddling, and completed an Appalachian Trail Thruhike in 2001, covering 2,186.1 miles.
